Ford has had a huge dominance amongst the Electric Vehicles industry. Their EV products are selling way better than GM EVs, and the Mustang Mach-E. Now with the 2022 release of the F-150 Lightning, it will be even more of an EV sale edge. Earlier this week, Ford announced they are behind schedule due to the global semiconductor shortage, but that has not stopped consumers to show massive interest. Reservations closed for the Lightning on December 11, 2021 at midnight because the interest was higher than anticipated. Customers can expect deliveries to start by springtime. According to Ford CEO Jim Farley, 70 percent of F-150 Lightning customers are new to the Ford brand. As of today, there are around 200,000 potential customers (me...
Ford has officially stopped taking reservations for the 2022 Ford Lightning 150's as the demand has reached 200,000. Production of the Lightning is continuing and is expected to start shipping them out the first half of 2022. These reservations for the Lightning are $100 refundable deposits and started back in May of 2021. Basically, what this means if one has not made a reservation, they can still try and get the Lightning from a dealer or order from the company's website. Ford does not know how many Lightnings they will make in 2022, but plan make as many as 80k in 2023. The company has publicly said it wants to build that many in 2024 after originally targeting just 40,000 annually and has been hiring new workers to handle the...
The great thing about Ford, they never stop with coming up with new products. The plan is to add a 2nd Generation Electric F-150 as soon as the 1st Generation hits the road. According to CEO, Jim Farley, the F-150's will be built at the upcoming 4th Ford plant in the US (BlueOval City). Farley didn't give many details about the 2nd Gen, but he did say it will be a new vehicle on an entire new platform and will also be full sized. Farley went on to say that he thinks the 2nd Gen will do quite well, seeing that there has been well over 200k reservations for the 1st series (which is 2 to 3 times more than Ford expected). Feels it will have the same, if not more interest from customers than the Gen 1 received. The Blue Oval has its...
I heard from a friend of mine that works with Ford that they have stated in their recent meetings, that they only plan on building 15,000 Lightnings in 2022 and only around 30,000 to 40,000 in 2023. That's a far cry for the amount of reservations that they have already. All of those 2022 builds will be the Platinum series, so with the prices of those, many will probably drop their orders. The 2023 builds will be a mix of the lower series trucks. I looked this info up and I did find that CarBuzz has some great information on it. Ford has a hit on its hands despite not having built a single production version yet. The F-150 Lightning has managed to draw around 160,000 reservations, far exceeding initial expectations. That's why Ford...
With the over 160,000 F-150 Ford Lightning reservations, the 2022 Lightning has now entered its 2nd phase. According to Ford CEO Jim Farley, the production team is putting out units used to prove out quality before full-scale Ford F-150 Lightning production begins in a few months. The demand for the F-150 Lightning prompted Ford to double its original production target to 80,000 units per year, along with investing an additional $250 million to add 450 more jobs at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, the Van Dyke Electric Powertrain Center – which builds electric motors and electric transaxles, and the Rawsonville Components Plant – where batteries are assembled. As reported back in September, the traditional car assembly is not the...
Ford states that it relied heavily on current customers and fleet owners to help make decisions regarding the Lightning's frunk, and the result is a huge space with multiple power sources and ample room for two golf bags. The Lightning frunk is bigger than what the Rivilan has to offer to offer the Rivlian frunk is massive! Lightning frunk offers 14.1 cubic feet of cargo volume, which is roughly the size of what a midsize sedan trunk would be. To reference the size, 2 full size goods bags should be able to fit inside the Lightning’s frunk.
Ford Motor Company has confirmed that the have reach well over 160,000 reservations. The reserve banks started only 6 months ago so that means they have taken an average of around 27,000 orders a month!
Ford maybe not telling us everything about how powerful the battery life range really is. A YouTuber named Marques Brownlee, a.k.a. MKBHD, revealed that it could attain more than 450 miles of range. There’s new supporting evidence, which, if true, would mean that when the F-150 Lightning hits the roads, it could be ahead of the competition. In July 2021, InsideEVs hitched a ride in a Ford F-150 Lightning prototype with Darren Palmer, and it was not in the prototype from MKBHD’s video in May 2021. Palmer, who is the general manager of Ford’s BEV division, did the driving. This prototype’s touchscreen indicated a 472-mile range estimate when the battery was at 100% SoC. Palmer said that the final F-150 Lightning that goes to customers...
Ford together with Google has created F-150 Lightning Strike Anywhere, an augmented reality experience to help customers to know about the key elements of the all-electric pickup truck. F-150 Lightning Strike Anywhere is a 3D and augmented reality experience that will allow owners to view and learn about a virtual F-150 Lightning truck in their own environment via smartphone. There are 13 interactive animations that will inform them about key features of the EV including functions and services, like the electric vehicle’s mega power frunk, battery range, towing capabilities, convenient charging solutions on the road and at home, interior connectivity, smart bed and much more.
